Created in Belgium in the late 1930s or 1940s, this 18K gold and platinum ring is set with rose-cut diamonds. The bold 18k gold form centers a deep reverse curve set with an arch of round, rose-cut diamonds within a rectangular platinum surround, vertically centered by rounded double gold bands. Compact in form, but abounding in high style, this ring makes creative use of the geometry of reverse curves, arches, and oblongs, enhanced by contrasts of color, texture and light versus shadow, for a playful take on the streamlined industrial forms of the era.
